A couple weeks ago I found myself at the Lafayette skate park located in Downtown L.A scouting for the ANTI Society© pro team. I noticed kids with remarkable talent, better yet remarkable undiscovered talent! I asked why haven’t other brands came down here to offer sponsorship to some of the locals? That’s when they went on to tell me that Rob Dyrdek is actually the founder of the skate park and hasn’t been down there more than 2 times in the 8 years its been downtown. That touched my heart because i used to be heavy into skating and i feel that skateboarding as a whole has gotten to boogie! These pro-skaters are in Bentley’s now and have left the hood’s that gave them everything they have behind, not to mention the next generation of skaters that need guidance and opportunity! Beyond that, the community in which the skate park inhabits is decaying.Everyone is Poverty stricken and as i talk to some of the locals it seems as if they’ve lost all hope. No one comes down to do Competitions of giveaways like they do so often in rich suburban neighborhoods. I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to use my relationships and resources to offer this community something they’ve never seen before! To re-inspire and to give hope back to these kid’s to let them know that they aren’t forgotten. I will personally be offering sponsorships to the finalist along with job opportunities to some of the local kids who may have turned to gang banging or tagging because they have no other opportunities!Giving away Art and clothes to people who truly need it and will appreciate it gives me no greater feeling! I am a Designer, and in the last couple months I’ve create a couple high profiled items that i will be giving away to some of the Locals that can’t afford my work! I will be Giving away a pair of custom Timberland’s that sell at the DOPE Couture store for $550- $1200, a RAD custom leather that sells at 424 on Fairfax for $1000-$2500, a Cease and Desist Chanel hockey jersey that sells for $200, and pieces from my ANTI Society Collection.I believe its time to do something or I’m terrified for the generation after us! Our Generation is decaying and that is the predominant reason i started the ANTI Society! To use art, music, design, fashion, and print as a weapon to relate to masses and at the same time enlighten them spiritually, politically, and artistically! I call it a “Weapon” because the powers that be want us stupid and unconscious! There is nothing more powerful than knowledge and i want to personally take the opportunity to share these idea’s withSome of the brand’s Ive personally reached out to have a very, how should i say, “Aristocratic” fan bases that may not even step foot on a skate park in downtown L.A, but my vision is that we destroy the lines in which we are all equal. The owners of these brand’s may have came from similar background’s and I think its essential that they come out and speak to the youth to let them know that anythings possible if they put their minds to it.#PROJECTIGIVEAFUCK is the beginning of a long journey I’m willing to take to annually or bi-annually giving back to the communities that need it the most. This isn’t for P.R or some write up in a magazine. I’m not one of those people who will kiss a starving baby and smile in the camera as i do so. This is for real change! Anyone who knows me knows that i am willing and have given my last dollar to someone who needs it more than i do! I am completely SELF-less and i believe once we inspire people to do more SELF-less acts of charity, we can lay a solid foundation that can actually change these neighborhoods from the inside out.Conclusively, I am not asking for anything specific! truth be told your presence is enough! If you have dead stock merch, promotional T-shirts, stickers, flyer’s, food, drinks, anything that you can give away would be highly appreciated for this event! Even if all your brand has to offer is an inspirational speech to the “locals” motivating them to do something positive with there lives!
